Sandro Zeller continues winning streak in Bohemia

Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup - Autodrom Most (CZE)

After the double victory in Imola Sandro Zeller (Jo Zeller Racing) followed the next in the 4th round of the Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup in the Autodrom Most. In the blazing heat in Bohemia, Zeller secured a reassuring cushion of points with his third one-two victory in this year's season. Tom Beckhäuser (Franz Wöss Racing) had announced a fight before both sprint races. Beckhäuser seemed to take the race seriously on Friday and slammed the fastest time onto the track in free practice.

Sandro Zeller fought back in the 1st qualifying and marked the fastest time with a 1:28.984 min ahead of Beckhäuser, Andrea Cola (Monolite Racing) and Antoine Bottiroli (GFORCE Racing). Beckhäuser drove in the slipstream, but did not pass. Even a safety car phase triggered by Norbert Groer (Team Hoffmann Racing) did not change the order after the re-start. Sandro Zeller won with 1,085 seconds ahead of Tom Beckhäuser. Behind the Czech Andrea Cola finished third, keeping Antoine Bottiroli in check. Formula 3 substitute driver Thomas Aregger (Franz Wöss Racing) was a big winner in Most. For laps he duelled with Marcel Tobler (Jo Zeller Racing). When Tobler turned around, Aregger had a clear course lying on fifth place. In Formula Renault Nico Gruber (Team Hofmann Racing) set a warning sign. He was dealing with local hero Vaclav Safar. When they both touched each other during a fight, Safar sled off the track and finished second behind Gruber. The Formula 3 Trophy classification was won by Florian Münger (Jo Zeller Racing), who beat Ralph Pütz (Belicon Motorsport).

For the 2nd race on Sunday Tom Beckhäuser had taken the pole position. With 1.28,819 min the pilot of Franz Wöss Racing was the fastest and distanced Sandro Zeller by 0,239 seconds. At the start Beckhäuser was ahead, but when the peloton turned back to the start/finish straight Zeller had taken the lead. Beckhäuser absolutely wanted to win in front of his fans. He made two driving mistakes. Then the gearbox in the F3 Dallara caused problems, whereupon he parked his car in the pit lane in lap 12. So for Sandro Zeller the victory was just a matter of form. Behind him, Antoine Bottiroli took second place, followed by Andrea Cola, who climbed onto the podium with third place as in race 1. Marcel Tobler finished fourth. Nico Gruber underlined his current supremacy in Formula Renault with his second victory at the weekend and was able to distance Vaclav Safar clearly. Florian Münger won the Formula 3 Trophy as he did on Saturday, dueling with Luca Iannaccone (Franz Wöss Racing) for laps and gaining a little ground in the final third of the race. Third place went to Ralph Pütz, who was happy about further points.
