A cracking field in Styria

Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup - Red Bull Ring (AUT)

Next weekend (May 19-21) the Drexler Formula Cup will be visiting Styria for its 4th round. The circuit trophy at the Red Bull Ring has been one of the season's highlights for many years and fans will get a foretaste of the Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix, which will be held at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg from June 30 to July 2. On the Grand Prix circuit in the Alps it is not only about points in the Drexler Formula Cup or the Austrian Racing Car State Championship, also the drivers of the ZINOX F 2000 Trophy will race for championship points. "We expect around 36 Formula cars and drivers from eight nations. Thus, we can present a very strong internationally well-staffed field to the spectators. For the first time, we are coming to the Red Bull Ring with two Formula 3 categories," says coordinator Franz Wöss. The Schwarzenberg Drexler Cup coordinator and team manager is looking forward to the home race in the Alps with the picturesque backdrop of the Red Bull Ring.

There will be two Formula 3 classes in the Drexler Formula Cup in 2023, with the slightly more powerful cars (28 mm air restrictor) and the Formula 3 Trophy cars with 26 mm air restrictor. In addition, both categories are fairly balanced by the weight distribution. In the Formula 3 Cup, Benjamin Berta (Franz Wöss Racing) is in the lead. The Hungarian convinced in Imola with a double victory. At his home race at the Hungaroring, however, he had to concede the top spot on the podium to Sandro Zeller (Jo Zeller Racing) in both races. Within striking distance is Japan's Juju Noda (Noda Racing), who is completing a double program in Europe in 2023 and is also racing in the Euro Formula Open in Spain. The Formula 3 Trophy category is clearly in Italian hands. Here, Eduardo Bonanomi (Team Automobile Tricolore) leads the standings ahead of Marco Falci (Nannini Racing) and Carmin Tancredi (Team Tramonti Corse). In the Drexler Formula Cup, further drivers will be competing at the Red Bull Ring. Marcel Tobler (Jo Zeller Racing), Thomas Amweg (Franz Wöss Racing) and Urs Rüttimann (Jo Zeller Racing) will strengthen the Swiss contingent. Furthermore Danny Luderer (Vogtland Racing), Tomas Chabr (Chabr Motorsport) and Vaclav Lausmann (Sape Motorsport), as well as Dr. Norbert Groer (Team Hoffmann Racing) start into the circuit season. With free entry, this year's circuit trophy promises plenty of excitement and a lot of motorsport, just the way the fans want it. With the TCR Eastern Europe, the Suzuki Cup Europe, the ACCR F4 Championship, the BMW M2 Cup Benelux, the Supercar Challenge and the FIA CEZ D4 with GT and touring cars, there is something for everyone.
Two free practice sessions are scheduled for the Drexler Automotive Formula Cup on Friday (May 19). The first qualifying session is scheduled for 3.50 p.m. on Saturday (May 20). On Sunday morning (May 21), the first race will take place at 10.40 am. Around 16.30 o'clock the traffic light for the 2.run switches to green.
