Francesco Galli remains the hunted

Drexler Formula Cup - Imola (ITA)

The Autodromo "Enzo e Dino Ferrari" will host the third round of the Drexler Formula Cup next weekend (31 May - 2 June 2024). In cooperation with the Zinox F2000 Trophy, the Drexler Formula Cup will once again race in Italy after the season opener in Vallelunga and the race at the Red Bull Ring. The next round of the Italian championship will be held in Imola and the racing programme is accordingly outstanding. The Porsche Carrera Cup Italia, the Mini Challenge, the Italian Formula 4 Championship and the Italian GT3 Championship will be competing on the Formula 1 track at the ACI Racing Weekend. After the first two races of the season, Imola will once again host a bumper field of over 30 formula cars in the Drexler Formula Cup. "There is a lot of interest from the teams for Imola every season. We were able to present great fields at the end of April in Vallelunga and a fortnight ago in Spielberg and therefore had a very good start to the season," says coordinator Franz Wöss.

There will now be another clash with the drivers from the Zinox F2000 Italy Trophy. Francesco Galli (G Motorsport), the leader of the standings, is the hunted. He has won three races so far, but suffered a retirement at the Red Bull Ring and has 75 points to his name. Close behind with 72 points is Benjamin Berta (Franz Wöss Racing), who is still waiting for his first win of the season. The Hungarian was on a par with Galli and wants to celebrate his first win of the season in Imola. Sandro Zeller (Jo Zeller Racing) is in third place (56 points), followed by Formula 3 newcomer Victor Smialek (Franz Wöss Racing), who has worked his way forward with consistently good results and already has 41 points to his name. In the Formula 3 Trophy, Marcel Tobler (Jo Zeller Racing) scored twice in Spielberg. The Swiss driver is level on points (both 50 points) with Vallelunga winner Francesco Solfaroli (Facondini Racing) at the top of the standings. Behind third-placed Davide Pedetti (Nannini Racing) with 48 points, Urs Rüttimann (Jo Zeller Racing) has made a great start to the season with two podium finishes in Spielberg and has 36 points to his name. Oliver Kratsch (Facondini Racing) lurks just three points behind in fifth place. With two successful race weekends under his belt, Turkey's Emir Tanju (Viola Formula Racing) has secured the top spot in the Formula Light Cup standings. He leads the table with 86 points. Karim Sartori with 73 points (Speed Motor) and Valentin Andrieux with 51 points from Viola Formula Racing want to close the current gap to Tanju in Imola. Dr Norbert Groer (Team Hoffmann Racing) made a good start to the season in Spielberg and wants to repeat the result in Imola. The weekend at the ACI Racing Weekend starts on Friday (31 May) with free practice sessions at 8.30 am and 12.30 pm. Qualifying will take place at 6.39 pm. On Saturday (01.06.) the traffic light for the first race will switch to green at 13.20 hrs. On Sunday (02.06.) the 2nd race will take place at 10.00 am.
