The hunt for Sandro Zeller (Jo Zeller Racing) goes into the next round

Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup - Imola (ITA)

After the end of the summer break, the Drexler Formula Cup comes to its third round in Imola (August 28-30). Imola heralds the second English week. Only one week after the guest appearance in the Autodromo "Enzo e Dino Ferrari" the Drexler Formula Cup comes to Brno. At the ACI Racing Weekend, the Drexler Formula Cup will once again compete with the Italian TOPJET F.2000 Italy Trophy. For the Italian circuit series, the weekend in Imola counts as one of the season highlights in the Corona year. The interest of the teams is just as great as in Mugello in mid-July. "Once again we have a very large field of participants together and expect 38 cars", says coordinator Franz Wöss. The racing program is peppered with top-class Italian circuit series. With the Italian F4 Championship, the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia, the Mini Challenge, the C.I.Gran Turismo Endurance and the TCR Italy Touring Car Championship, the organizer has a great program to offer. A total of 13 decisions are up for grabs on the 4.933-kilometer circuit, which will host Formula 1 at the end of October 2020 after 14 years of abstinence. Among the drivers in the Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup, Imola is considered one of the fastest race tracks on this year's calendar.

After the first two rounds on the Salzburgring and in Mugello, Sandro Zeller (Jo Zeller Racing) has taken the lead in the standings. The question already arises as to who should actually beat the defending champion from Switzerland. His worst opponent is Thomas Aregger (Franz Wöss Racing), who is within striking distance of Zeller with four podium places. For the Luxembourg Brice Morabito (Monolite Racing) it will be important to be able to confirm the results achieved by Mugello in Imola. Formula 3 clearly sets the tone in the Imola driver field and is strongly represented with 25 cars. Last year Sandro Zeller was able to convince on the circuit not far from Maranello. Both sprint races will show to what extent he can handle the position of the favorites. Strong competition is definitely lurking from the Italian Formula 3 camp, with Prof.-Dr.-Ing. Ralph Pütz (Belicon Motorsport) currently leading the Drexler Formula 3 Trophy classification. Thomas Amweg (Jo Zeller Racing) lies in second place. His compatriot Urs Rüttimann (Jo Zeller Racing) currently holds third position. Sebastian Freymuth (AS Motorsport) would like to continue his success story in Formula 4. This also applies to Norbert Groer (Team Hoffmann Racing), who leads the table in Formula Renault.

On Friday (28.08.) free practice is scheduled for the Drexler Automotive Formula Cup at 9.00 and 13.10, before qualifying starts at 18.30. The 1st race takes place on Saturday (29.08.) at 13.30 o'clock. On Sunday (30.08.) the 2nd race will take place at 9.00 am.
