Home race for Stefan Fürtbauer and Patrick Schober

Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup - Red Bull Ring (AUT)

Next weekend (21-22 May) the Drexler Formula Cup will be visiting Styria. The event, which was actually announced as a circuit trophy, will be staged as the P9 Challenge Race Weekend by organiser Fischer Sportpromotion. After the season opener in Monza, the Drexler Formula Cup is coming to the next Formula 1 circuit, which is traditionally on the calendar and is one of the drivers' favourite circuits. The 2021 season has just started and forecasts about the further course of events are likely to be difficult to predict. Restrictions are still in place due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Hygiene and safety precautions dominate the scene in international motorsport.

In Monza, Thomas Aregger (Franz Wöss Racing) managed to show a first sign of respect at the start. He was able to secure full points in the second race, after champion Sandro Zeller (Jo Zeller Racing) was able to shine with a victory in the first race. Stefan Fürtbauer (Franz Wöss Racing), who climbed the podium both times in Monza and is now looking forward to his home race, caused a surprise. Patrick Schober (Procar Motorsport) should be in a similarly positive mood looking ahead to the two races at the Red Bull Ring. In Monza, he had to struggle with electronics problems in his Formula 4 and simply had bad luck with retirements. He wants to recover the lost points this weekend. Patrick Schober wants to attack again and will not only be able to compete with his long-term rival Benjamin Berta (Gender Racing Team). The German team US Racing from ADAC Formula 4 has announced that it will make a guest appearance. With Luke Browning (GBR) and Vlad Lomko (RUS), the team of ex-Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher will bring two contenders for victory to Styria. "We have drivers from ten nations at the start of the second round," says coordinator Franz Wöss. With Urs Rüttimann and Marcel Tobler (both Jo Zeller Racing) as well as Christian Wachter (Rennsport Wachter), well-known names will enter this year's event with their Formula 3s. Sandro Zeller wants to make up for his unintentional retirement in Monza in the second round and, if possible, conquer the top of the standings. In Formula Renault, Stephan Glaser is the favourite. The P9 Challenge Race Weekend is well occupied with the Boss-GP, the Suzuki-Cup, the P9 Challenge and the SCC.
On Friday (21.05.), two free practice sessions are scheduled for the Drexler Automotive Formula Cup at 9.00 am and 2.15 pm. Qualifying is scheduled for 9.50 am on Saturday (22.05.). The 1st race will take place on Saturday at 13.05 hrs. Around 3.25 p.m. the 2nd race will take place.
