Alesandro Bracalende delivers impressive performance

Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup - Spa Francorchamps (BEL)

There was no match for the more powerful Formula 3 Open cars on the legendary Ardennes rollercoaster at Spa. Alesandro Bracalende took the pole position on Friday with a 2:16.525 min. After the start of the first race, the Dallara driver left the field early to take a commanding start-finish victory. Behind the Italian, Vladimir Netusil (Effective Racing) finished second with a razor-thin lead. With great effort, he was able to relegate Andrea Benalli to third place. The Formula 3 Open cars showed their performance advantage especially on the straights.

Sandro Zeller (Jo Zeller Racing) stayed within striking distance during the 11-lap chase. The Swiss showed a strong performance and took the victory in Formula 3 ahead of his compatriots Thomas Aregger (Franz Wöss Racing) and Marcel Tobler who was able to catch Kurt Böhlen (both Jo Zeller Racing). Patrick Schober (Procar Motorsport) repeated his victory from the Salzburgring in Formula 4, beating Benjamin Berta (Gender Racing). In Formula Renault, Walter Steding (Speed Center) won ahead of Robert Siska (Franz Wöss Racing) and local hero Philip Daniels (Trommülke). Alesandro Bracalente did not miss a beat in the 2nd race on Sunday. He led the field from the start and took his second victory in Spa. His two pursuers Vladimir Netusil and Andrea Benalli overdid it in the fight and retired after a contact in the sixth lap. Sandro Zeller was again unable to shake off Thomas Aregger, who was able to embarrass last year's champion a few times. After the chequered flag fell, both were only 1.113 seconds apart. Marcel Tobler was able to keep up with his compatriots in the first third of the race. But then the thread broke and Tobler finished fourth, half a minute behind, ahead of Christian Wachter, who drove strongly and finished fifth overall. While Benjamin Berta won in Formula 4, his rival Patrick Schober only got a few metres. He was hit by an opponent on the starting lap and had to retire. As in the first race, Walter Steding scored the full number of points in Formula Renault. Philip Daniels finished second ahead of Luca Steffen (Speed Center) who climbed the podium for the first time. In the Formula 3 Trophy classification, Prof. Dr. Ralph Pütz (Franz Wöss Racing) won the first race. The following day, Urs Rüttimann (Jo Zeller Racing) took revenge with his first victory of the season.
