Ideal springboard for higher tasks

Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup

If you want to enter formula racing or start a formula career in the future, the Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup is the ideal place to start. The formula series has its origins in the Austria Formula 3 Cup, which was founded in 1992. The first winner was Phililip Peter (AUT). The most prominent starter at that time was certainly Alexander Wurz (AUT). He started for RSM Marko, became champion in 1994 and started his formula career from Formula 3 to the premier class of Formula 1. The list of pilots who have continuously made their way in formula racing is long. The pilots who deserve special mention are Jan Seyffarth (GER), Harald Schlegelmilch (LV) and Jordi Weckx (BEL). Since the era of the REMUS Formula Cup the picture has changed since 2013. The entry possibilities have been extended. In addition to the established Formula 3 and Formula Renault categories, Formula 1600 was added, which soon led to Formula 4. Young drivers used their chance not only to get a whiff of racing air. They also took their first steps in formula racing. The REMUS Formula Cup offered an ideal entry opportunity due to all three combined formula classes. In addition one could get to know international racetracks.

Whether Jakup Smiechowski (POL), Thomas Amweg or Kurt Böhlen (both SUI), all three came from Formula Renault and switched to Formula 3. Not all pilots who completed their development in Formula 3 remained associated with this racing car category. Luca Stolz (GER), Christopher Höher (AUT) or Nikolaj Rogivue (SUI) switched to GT racing. "I think the philosophy of our series has worked out over the last few years. We were not only interesting for privateers and side entrants. Rather, it offered young pilots the opportunity to develop in a consistent environment in order to prepare for higher tasks," says Coordinator Franz Wöss. With this concept, the Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup wants to continue to score points. For the drivers, it is not only the incentives to get into the higher classics in the near future that remain. "In a manageable financial environment, we offer conditions that simply don't swallow up big money. We've noticed several times that pilots have changed class, but have continued to compete in our series. I think I can even say that with this concept we are still well positioned, because we care about young talent and its promotion", Franz Wöss concludes.
