Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup - Hungaroring (HUN)
The Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup comes to its seventh round to the Hungaroring (11.-13.10.2019). The final will be held for the first time as part of the Hungarian National Championship. Sandro Zeller (Jo Zeller Racing) secured the Formula 3 title at the Masaryk Racing Days in Brno at the beginning of September. The Swiss driver also won the SWISS Formula 3 Cup ahead of schedule. Dr.Ralph Pütz became champion in the RAVENOL Formula Cup. On the 4.381 km long Hungaroring the Italian TOPJET F2000 Trophy with Formula 3 will also be part of the Formula Racing Car field.
Built in 1986, the Grand Prix circuit northeast of Budapest is considered by the drivers to be a challenging circuit with few opportunities for overtaking manoeuvres. Three races will be held for the first time at the final weekend. This constellation hides the highest tension. Andrea Cola is currently second with 168 points, followed by Antoine Bottiroli (GFORCE Racing), who is just behind with 164 points. With Tom Beckhäuser (Franz Wöss Racing) and Marcel Tobler (Jo Zeller Racing) two pilots are in a waiting position, who theoretically can also finish on the podium. Relatively relaxed the already established champion Sandro Zeller can look at the action. Who knows Zeller knows that he wants to improve his season balance in Hungary. Between Cola and Bottiroli the duel for the vice championship could remain open until the 3rd race on the Hungaroring. Bottroli was able to hold his own twice before Cola in Brno. Nico Gruber (Team Hoffmann Racing) is regarded as the big favourite in Formula Renault and is taking Hungary by storm with a cushion of points. On the Masarykring he celebrated his fourth double victory of the season. His team mate Dr.Norbert Groer is currently in second place ahead of Matej Kacovsky (Team HKC Racing). Groer should be able to secure his second place in the standings in Hungary. Robert Helfer (F-Racing 2000) wants to score points in the home race and has his sights set on third place in the overall standings. In the Formula 3 Trophy classification Florian Münger (Jo Zeller Racing) can win the title on his own. In purely mathematical terms, the Swiss Luca Iannaccone (Franz Wöss Racing) and Dr.Ralph Pütz can still be dangerous.
Pütz and Zeller are champions in the sub-ratings
While in the Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup the two sub-ratings were decided prematurely, at least in the SWISS Formula 3 Cup for the Swiss participants it is about the other places again. Antoine Bottiroli is on course for the runner-up title, while Marcel Tobler wants to finish third. The SWISS Formula 3 Cup is supported by HORAG.
On Friday (11.10.) the first qualifying for the Drexler Automotive Formula Cup will take place at 15.30 hrs. The 1st run will take place on Saturday (12.10.) at 10.50 am. In the afternoon around 15.10 o'clock the 2nd qualifying is announced. On Sunday (13.10.) at 10.50 the 2nd run is on the agenda. Around 15.30 o'clock the final race of this year's season will take place with the 3rd run.
