Final weekend at the "American Festival of Rome
27 October 2021
Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup - Autodromo Vallelunga (ITA)
The Drexler Formula Cup will experience a special premiere next weekend (29.-31.10.21). For the first time, the Autodromo Vallelunga 30 kilometers north of Rome will be the venue. The sixth round of the formula series is eagerly awaited. Although in some categories the champions have been decided since the penultimate round in Brno, in Formula 3 it will be about the "runner-up title". Sandro Zeller (Jo Zeller Racing) could make everything clear early in the Czech Republic with his 6th title in a row. In Vallelunga Thomas Aregger and Stefan Fürtbauer (both Franz Wöss Racing) are challenged. Both are only six points apart in the fight for the vice championship. This duel is likely to add a special spice to both sprint races.
In Formula 4, Patrick Schober has won the category early. The Procar Motorsport protégé need not worry about the race outcome in Italy. The same applies to the Czech Vladimir Netusil (Effektive Racing), who won the 2021 Formula 3 Open category in superior style. In Formula Renault, the decision will be made in Vallelunga between Robert Siska (Franz Wöss Racing) and Dr. Norbert Groer from Team Hoffmann Racing. Both have it in their own hands to catch the leader Walter Steding (Speed Center). At the "American Festival of Rome", the Drexler Formula Cup will run together with the Top Jet F2000 Italian Formula Trophy. Accordingly, more than 30 formula race cars will be on the grid. In addition, Sandro Zeller and Bernardo Pellegrini will meet again for the day's victory. However, the starting positions in this duel are unequally distributed, as Formula 3 from the Super Formula is allowed to drive with more power in Italy. As the name suggests, the event will be held under the banner of the EuroNASCAR series. The Drexler Formula Cup has already been a guest in Most with the beefy V8 touring cars from the European NASCAR category. "We are looking forward to the finale in Italy, after we also had to deal with date changes due to event cancellations this season," says coordinator Franz Wöss. With drivers from nine nations, the Drexler Formula Cup once again underlines its high internationality at the final weekend. After two free practice sessions on Friday, qualifying is scheduled for Saturday at 11.25 am. At 14.40 hrs the lights will then turn green for the 1st race. The 2nd run will take place on Sunday at 15.00 hrs.
