The second round of the Drexler Formula Cup will take place on the 5.793-kilometre Formula 1 track in Monza next weekend (22-24 April). For some of Italy's championships, the new motorsport year begins in the royal park. The TCR Italy Touring Car Championship, the Italiano Gran Turismo Sprint and the BMW M2 CS Racing Cup Italy will provide plenty of excitement at the ACI Racing Weekend. As in 2021, the Drexler Formula Cup is teaming up with the Top Jet F.2000 Italy Trophy and will feature a cracker of a field of over 30 cars. "The interest of the teams is huge, as it is every year before Monza. We are looking forward to this event as part of the circuit championships in Italy," says coordinator Franz Wöss. At all championship rounds that the Drexler Formula Cup will hold in Italy this season, they will be at the start together with the Italian Formula 3 scene.

Last year, the drivers from the TopJet F.2000 Italy Trophy kept the upper hand on the ultra-fast Monza circuit. Bernardo Pellegrini (HT Powerteam) celebrated a double victory. For the 2nd round in Italy, the champion will now take part in the season. Sandro Zeller (Jo Zeller Racing) has dominated the championship in recent years, winning it six times in a row. In Monza, he should expect strong competition. This includes not only the top drivers of the Italian Formula 3 scene. There are also new names in the Drexler Formula Cup since the weekend at the Hungaroring. In Formula 3, David Richert (Franz Wöss Racing Team) has taken the lead in the standings. Behind the Canadian, Daniel Tapinos (Franz Wöss Racing) and Luca Iannaccone (Facondini Racing) are within striking distance. In the Formula 3 Open standings, Attila Penzes was able to convince at his home race. He currently leads the ranking ahead of his compatriot Janos Magyar (Magyar Racing) and Paolo Brajnik. In Formula Renault, the Hoffmann Racing team set the tone. Newcomer Andre Petropoulos celebrated a double victory in Hungary ahead of Dr Norbert Groer. Robert Siska (Franz Wöss Racing) will start the season in Monza. Last year, the US-American kept the championship open until the last race and was only beaten by Dr.Norbert Groer on the last race day. Juju Noda (Vadum Racing) from Japan and Cian Carey (Franz Wöss Racing) from Ireland are two newcomers to the field. The race starts in Monza on Friday (22.04.) with free practice at 9.00 and 14.05 hrs. Qualifying will take place on Saturday (23.04.) at 8.30 am. At 10.20 a.m. the lights will turn green for the 1st race. On Sunday (24.04.) the 2nd race will take place at 10.20 am.
