On to the second round in Imola

Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup

The Autodromo "Enzo e Dino Ferrari" invites to the second round of the Drexler Formula Cup next weekend (21.-23.04.2023). In cooperation with the Zinox F2000 Italian Trophy, the Drexler Formula Cup will race once again in Italy after the season opener at Mugello, before the third round at the Hungaroring a week later. Imola is the next round for the Italian championships and the race program is accordingly outstanding. The TCR Italy Touring Car Championship, the Italian Formula 4 Championship, as well as the Formula Regional Championship by Alpine and the Championato Italiano Sport Prototipi will do the honors on the Formula 1 track at the ACI Racing Weekend. After the great season opener at Mugello, Imola will once again feature a cracker of a field with over 30 formula cars competing in the Drexler Formula Cup. "For Imola, the interest of the teams is even greater. We had a very good start to the season at Mugello," says coordinator Franz Wöss.

There will now be another clash with the drivers from the Zinox F2000 Italy Trophy. The new class division in the Drexler Formula Cup passed its acid test at Mugello. Although Formula 3 has a few more horsepower in the new Cup class, the Formula 3 Trophy category was by no means beaten below value. Here, the Formula 3 cars have slightly less horsepower, but they also drive with less weight. Juju Noda (Noda Racing) celebrated her first Formula 3 victory at the start. The Japanese already shone in qualifying with top times and was only beaten in race 1 by Benjamin Berta (Franz Wöss Racing). Champion Sandro Zeller (Jo Zeller Racing) had a less than ideal start to the season with third place in race 1. With Alessandro Bracalente (One Sport Performance) and Bernardo Pellegrini (HP Powertrain), two experienced Formula 3 drivers are currently within striking distance and are tied for fourth place. In the Formula 3 Trophy classification, Marco Falci (Nannini Racing) made his debut in impressive style, scoring a double victory. His compatriots Daniele Siano (Sud Motorsport) and Patrick Bellezza (Beltaspeed) took their first podium at Mugello and rank behind Marco Falci. There are further additions for Imola. In the Formula 3 Trophy Marcel Tobler (Jo Zeller Racing) and in the Formula Light Robert Siska (Franz Wöss Racing) will take part in the action. For Juju Noda it is now time for a new challenge. The Japanese has already gathered quite a bit of self-confidence. "I just want to do my best, improve and have fun," she said recently to the motorsport website Racers, which mainly puts young women in motorsport in the spotlight. The fact that she will also be racing in EUROFORMULA this season fits in with the concept. "I never give up even when things are difficult, that's the spirit that led to victory at Mugello," Noda concluded. The weekend at Imola gets underway on Friday (21.04.) with free practice sessions at 9.55 am and 1.50 pm. Qualifying will take place at 18.35. On Saturday (22.04.) the lights will turn green for the 1st race at 14.30 hrs. On Sunday (23.04.) the 2nd run will take place at 10.50 am.
