Second round in Tuscany

Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup - Mugello (ITA)
The Drexler Formula Cup starts its second round in Tuscany next weekend (09-11 May) and will be a guest at the Mugello Racing Weekend. After the furious season opener in Monza, the formula racing series will once again start in Italy. As expected, the Drexler Formula Cup will have a great starting field on the 5.245-kilometre circuit in Mugello. ‘We are expecting almost 30 formula cars. Formula 3 is still very strong. I'm excited to see how the Monza season opener winners can hold their own at the second race weekend,’ says coordinator Franz Wöss. In Mugello, the teams and drivers will once again meet the participants of the TOPJET F2000 Trophy, which presents the Formula 3 scene in Italy. The ultra-fast circuit in Tuscany is very popular with the drivers due to its unrivalled character.
At the season opener, the favourites for the season were able to assert themselves. First and foremost Benjamin Berta (Franz Wöss Racing), who will be travelling to Tuscany as the leader of the standings. Berta won the 2nd race in Monza. His closest rival is once again Sandro Zeller (Jo Zeller Racing). The Swiss driver won the 1st race and secured full points. His compatriot Kurt Böhlen (Jo Zeller Racing) climbed onto the podium in race 2 and holds third place in the standings. The TOPJET F2000 Trophy drivers are particularly motivated at their home race. This applies in particular to Ricardo Perego (Corbetta Racing) and Andrea Benalli (Puresport), who finished in the points in Monza. In the Formula 3 Trophy, Oliver Kratsch (Facondini Racing) is one of the favourites. In Lee Cunningham (Jo Zeller Racing) and Cataldo Romano (Team Perodi), Oliver Kratsch has two strong rivals who also finished on the podium in Monza. Formula 3 Trophy Champion Marcel Tobler (Jo Zeller Racing) will start the new season in Mugello. It will be interesting to see how Tobler performs in his first race in 2025.
In the Formula Light category, Portugal's Luis Aguiar (Viola Formula Racing) surprised the competition in Monza with a double victory. The drivers behind him, Karim Sartori (Speed Motor) and Fabio Turchetto (A.S.D.Ruote Scoperte), want to turn the tables again in Mugello. Formula Regional cars have been integrated into the formula field since this season. At the season opener, Frenchman Jeremy Clavaud (Team STAC) took a double victory. Mattia Bagioni and Christof Ledermann (both Puresport) want to finish in the points in Mugello and add to their tally. The free practice sessions for the Drexler Automotive Formula Cup are scheduled for Friday (9 May). Qualifying will take place on Saturday (10th May) from 10.35 am. The first race will take place in the late afternoon at around 16.35. On Sunday (11.05.), the starting lights for the 2nd race will switch to green at 14:55.
