Drexler Automotive Formula Cup – Hockenheim
Following the summer break, the Drexler Formula Cup returns to Hockenheim this coming weekend (25–26 July 2025). The third race of the season will be held at the 4.574-kilometre Hockenheimring during the P9 Race Weekend. The Grand Prix circuit in Baden is one of the highlights of the formula series. ‘Hockenheim is something special for the teams and participants every year. Formula 3 in Germany in particular can look back on a long tradition in Baden,’ says coordinator Franz Wöss. After the two events in Monza and Mugello, the Drexler Formula Cup is already racing on the third Formula 1 track in Europe. Sandro Zeller (Jo Zeller Racing) comes to Hockenheim as the leader in the Formula 3 standings. The Swiss Formula 3 veteran has been in a neck-and-neck race with the current champion Benjamin Berta (Franz Wöss Racing) so far. Berta has already scored two wins this season.
He did not see the chequered flag in the second race at Mugello, so this duel at the Hockenheimring is sure to be exciting. Andrea Benalli (Puresport) and Stig Larsen (Franz Wöss Racing) are currently behind the leading duo in the standings. In the Formula 3 Trophy, Italian Davide Pedetti (Nannini Racing) has moved into first place after the first two races. Behind him lurks Lee Cunningham (Jo Zeller Racing) from Great Britain. He is driving his first season in the Drexler Formula Cup for the Swiss Formula 3 racing team. Behind the Briton are Cafaldo Roman (Team Perodi) and Oliver Kratsch (Facondini Racing) in the other positions. Marcel Tobler (Jo Zeller Racing) will be hoping for success in the Formula 3 Trophy. Tobler started the season with the race in Mugello and immediately scored points. Andre Petropoulos from Team Hoffmann Racing should not be underestimated. He too is capable of making it onto the podium at Hockenheim. In Mugello, he secured second place twice, putting him in a good position for the rest of the season.
In the Formula Light Cup, where Formula Renault cars dominate the scene, Frenchwoman Sarene Ziffel surprised the assembled male competition with a double victory at the same venue last year. She will be back on the grid this coming weekend and is aiming for a podium finish. Dennis Hübl (Speed Center Team) and Dr Norbert Groer (Team Hoffmann Racing) will certainly try to prevent Sarene Ziffel from securing a second double victory. The LRT (Leidinger Rennsport Technik) team will make its debut in the Formula Light Cup with three Formula Renault cars. With Norbert Lenzenwenger, Jürgen Berger and Alexander Fritz, the Austrian racing team is well positioned. The programme for the P9 Race Weekend in Hockenheim is well filled. In addition to the P9 Challenge with top-class GT cars, Formula Vau will also be at the start. The Drexler Formula Cup will complete free practice on Friday (25 July). On Saturday (26 July), the formula series will start at 9:40 a.m. with qualifying. The first race is scheduled for around 12:50 p.m., with the second race taking place at 4:05 p.m.
