Final showdown in Italy

20 October 2025

Drexler Automotive Formula Cup – Misano (ITA)

The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli will host the final round of the Drexler Formula Cup for the first time this coming weekend (24-26 October 2025). In cooperation with Topjet Formula 2000, the formula series will be making its fourth guest appearance in Italy this season. The racing programme on the 4.226-kilometre circuit is attractively filled with the BOSS GP and Formula 2 Classic, as well as other series from Italy. The race track has also established itself among fans in recent years with the MotoGP and Superbike World Championship races, thanks in part to its fast passages. Under these conditions, the Drexler Formula Cup final is expected to feature more than just exciting battles for position. After all, the championship is at stake in three categories.

The Formula Light class is an exception. Here, Austrian Michael Fischer (LRT Racing) sealed the deal with his double victory in the penultimate race in Imola, securing the championship. Nicolas Löffler (Franz Wöss Racing), Karim Sartori (Speed Motor) and Luis Aguiar (Viola Formula Racing) are promising contenders behind Michael Fischer in the Formula Light category, which features a strong field of Formula Renault cars, when it comes to the overall standings for this season. The outcome of the Formula 3 Cup is completely open. Sandro Zeller (Jo Zeller Racing) and Benjamin Berta (Franz Wöss Racing) will battle it out for the title, while Andrea Benalli (Puresport) is likely to hold on to third place. Zeller versus Berta – this duel has thrilled spectators time and again on the tracks in 2025. The decision in the Formula 3 Trophy is eagerly awaited. Andre Petropoulos (Team Hoffmann Racing) cannot be sure of victory after his win in Imola. Lee Cunningham (Jo Zeller Racing) is lying in wait behind the German, ahead of Oliver Kratsch (Facondini Racing) and Marcel Tobler (Jo Zeller Racing), who also have hopes of a podium finish in the overall standings.

In the Formula Regional category, the neck-and-neck race between Jeremy Clavaud (Team STAC) and Christof Ledermann (Puresport) continues. Neither was able to gain an advantage in Imola. Luca Iannaccone (Neri Autosport) has confirmed his upward trend since the middle of the season. The Italian wants to position himself among the top three drivers in Formula Regional at his home race. ‘We are looking forward to a great final weekend in Misano. The fact that the decisions in three categories will only be made at the final speaks for the formula series with its successful concept and the introduction of four formula categories,’ says coordinator Franz Wöss. The weekend at the ACI Historic Racing Weekend kicks off on Friday (24 October) for the Drexler Formula Cup with free practice at 11:55 a.m. and 3:55 p.m. On Saturday (25 October), qualifying follows at around 9:35 a.m. and the lights turn green for the first race at 2:50 p.m. The second race will take place on Sunday (26 October) at 10:30 a.m.
