Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup - Lausitzring

Next weekend (28-29/06/2024), the Lausitzring will host the 4th round of the Drexler Formula Cup. This will be the first time this season that the formula series has come to Germany. The P9 Challenge Race Weekend was last held in 2018. The organising team led by Bernhard Fischer has once again put together a varied racing programme for this year. Not only the Ferrari Club will be at the start. Together with the ESET Cup, the P9 Challenge will organise two sprint races and an endurance race, where the GT3 sports cars will set the tone. After the first three races of the season in the Drexler Formula Cup, the half-time champions in the three classes will be decided.

The ongoing duel in the Drexler Formula 3 Cup between Benjamin Berta (Franz Wöss Racing) and Sandro Zeller (Jo Zeller Racing) will enter the next round. Both recently shared the race wins in Imola and were able to take some points away from Francesco Galli (G Motorsport). With 112 points, Benjamin Berta is currently in the lead ahead of Sandro Zeller with 99 points. Francesco Galli lost some ground. He has 93 points in his account. Lurking behind the Italian is Victor Smialek (66 points) from the Franz Wöss Racing team. The Canadian's form curve continues to point upwards this season. After the races at the Red Bull Ring, Smialek claimed his second podium finish in Imola. Two contenders for victory have emerged in the Formula 3 Trophy. Francesco Solfaroli (Facondini Racing) and Marcel Tobler (Jo Zeller Racing) are tied at the top with 93 points each. Tobler's compatriot Urs Rüttimann (Jo Zeller Racing) was able to maintain his position in Imola and is currently in third place with 61 points, followed by Giovanni Giordano (Giordano Motorsport) with 52 points. Oliver Kratsch (Facondini Racing) is getting better and better into the season. He is based in Birkenwerder in Brandenburg and has a home race at the Lausitzring. He finished on the podium for the first time at the Red Bull Ring, which he narrowly missed out on in Imola. Formula Light will clearly be dominated by the Formula Renault racing cars in 2024. Emir Tanju (Viola Formula Racing) leads the standings with 129 points. His closest rival Karim Sartori (Speed Motor) has been able to close the gap and is in second place with 116 points. Behind the Italian, Valentin Andrieux (Viola Racing) was able to maintain third place in the standings, although the Frenchman has already suffered two zero results. The P9 Challenge Race Weekend starts on Friday (28 June) at around 9:45 am with test and set-up runs. Qualifying for the Drexler Formula Cup is then scheduled for 2.45 pm. On Saturday (29 June), the traffic lights will switch to green for the first race at 9.55 am. The 2nd race will start at 1.55 pm.
