30 June 2024

Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup - Lausitzring

Things could not have gone better for Benjamin Berta (Franz Wöss Racing) at the 4th round of the Drexler Formula Cup on the 4.534-kilometre Grand Prix circuit of the Lausitzring. The Hungarian won both races and has now built up a promising points cushion. Behind the Hungarian, Sandro Zeller (Jo Zeller Racing) finished second in both races, with the Swiss driver putting up strong resistance in the first race in particular and putting Berta under pressure, who crossed the finish line with a lead of 1.773 seconds.

Victor Smialek (Franz Wöss Racing) was able to confirm his current excellent pace in Lausitz. He fought a thrilling duel with the duo at the front for a long time and was relegated to third place by 5.090 seconds. With this result in Lausitz, Victor Smialek succeeded in taking third place in the standings. In the second race, the gaps at the front of the field widened somewhat. Zeller crossed the finish line in second place, 10.604 seconds behind Victor Smialek, who was beaten by 16.523 seconds over the 16-lap race. Benjamin Berta had already got away from the field at the start of the race. In the final laps of the race, he only had to manage his comfortable lead. Kurt Böhlen (Jo Zeller Racing) finished fourth in both races without ever getting close to the podium. For Andre Petropoulos (Team Hofmann Racing), the trip to the Lausitzring was more than worthwhile. He won the Formula 3 Trophy classification in both races and made a real leap up the standings. Andre Petropoulos has now moved up to third place behind Francesco Solfaroli and Marcel Tobler, who are equal on points. His team-mate Luca Iannaccone also celebrated this success, taking two podium places and distancing the Austrian Sedin Mujagic from third place. In the Formula Light category, Falk Schwarze achieved a double victory in his Drexler Formula Cup premiere. He was able to leave Diego Romanini and Dr Norbert Groer (both Team Hoffmann Racing) behind.
