Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup - Automotodrom Brno (CZE)
Just one week after Imola, the Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup is coming to Brno for its fourth round (September 04-06). Brno heralds the final autumn. In October, the guest appearance at the Hungaroring will follow, after which the final race will take place in Monza. The Masaryk Racing Days in Brno have established themselves in the Drexler Formula Cup calendar for years. For the first time this year the formula racing series will cooperate with the FIA Zone Championship. The racing program in Brno is top-class. The focus is on the BOSS GP with Formula 1 and GP2 racing cars. In addition, the TCR Eastern Europe, the Swift Cup Europe and the GT series with the P9 Challenge and the SCC are expected to cause a sensation. "We expect exciting confrontations in Brno. The championship is entering its hot phase. Preliminary decisions in the individual formula classes are to be expected," says coordinator Franz Wöss. A total of 19 decisions are pending on the 5.403 kilometer long circuit.
After the three race weekends in the Drexler Formula Cup, Sandro Zeller (Jo Zeller Racing) has been able to further extend his championship lead. Should the Swiss driver be unstoppable in the Czech Republic, he will drive towards defending his title. His pursuers Thomas Aregger (Franz Wöss Racing) and Brice Morabito (Monolite Racing) left points in Imola. Matej Kacovsky (HKC Academy), who knows the track at the gates of Brno like the back of his hand, is eagerly awaiting the home game. Formula 3 will be strongly represented in the field of participants. Last year Sandro Zeller won the 2nd race on the Masarykring. The Czech Tom Beckhäuser had won the 1st race. In the Drexler Formula 3 Trophy classification Prof.-Dr.-Ing. Ralph Pütz (Belicon Motorsport) is currently leading the table. Pütz also collected points in Imola and was able to gain an advantage over his pursuers Thomas Amweg and Urs Rüttimann (both Jo Zeller Racing). In the Formula 4 Benjamin Berta (Gender Racing Team) and Patrick Schober (Procar Motorsport) are equal at the top. Norbert Groer (Team Hoffmann Racing) leads the table in Formula Renault.
On Friday (04.09.) the qualifying for the Drexler Automotive Formula Cup at 14.45 is scheduled. The 1st race takes place on Saturday (05.09.) at 10.10 o'clock. On Sunday (06.09.) the 2nd race will take place at 11.30 am.
